WHAT WE DO IN OUR PROGRAMS: Lifeskills in Action: Recently all of our programs have deepened their focus on discussing Lifeskills in their classrooms. The Nature Academy established these Lifeskills as an integral part of their program, linking them into their academic studies and student self-reflections since the program’s inception over 20 years ago.  There is sound research that verifies the benefits of incorporating Lifeskills into students learning.

...We know that for academics to stick, students need to feel Safe, Seen and Supported. They also need to have resilience, to have that ‘I Can’ capacity. That’s where the importance of having a Growth Mindset comes in.

I am sure that many of you have heard about Growth Mindset. It was brought into the limelight with research done by Carol Dweck’s research in 2006.  The Charter staff encourages students in the Growth versus Fixed Mindset in their classes. It is important that parents, too, understand the importance of supporting a growth mindset throughout your child’s life. If we all use the same language with our students, the messages are definitely more able to stick!

We have had a week of school under our belts, the rhythm and routine of the school year is underway, mornings getting off and ready are smoother, and students and teachers alike are gaining excitement for the wonderful learning that is yet to come!  Thank you for supporting your students learning by sending them off well slept, coming to classes on time, with a healthy breakfast and lunch (with protein) to help keep their brains and bodies alert.

Registration Information for the 2019-20 School Year

The first day of school is Monday, August 19th. You will be sent an email or letter notification with instructions on how to complete the Annual Online Registration, which will open August 6th to our continuing/returning student families as well as new families who have completed our pre-enrollment process.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have more than one student attending school in our district, you will receive a separate notification and unique SnapCode for each respective child.
