Meet Our Counselor
Robin Bates, LMFT
SLVUSD Charter School Mental Health Specialist
Robin Bates is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who lives in Boulder Creek with her husband and two boys. She received her graduate degree in 2010 from Sofia University, where she learned that art and movement can be powerful tools in therapy and personal growth. Robin received her license while working as an outpatient therapist at Santa Clara Kaiser’s Mental Health Department. Having worked in schools and spending several years volunteering in classrooms in the San Lorenzo Valley, she was excited to transition to SLVUSD Charter as their school counselor. She often includes art, movement, mindfulness, Positive Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to her student-centered approach to supporting children in school. She believes in meeting children “where they are”, offering evidence-based coping tools and focusing on their strengths to support their challenges. Her role at the SLVUSD Charter School is to offer experiential education on mental wellness topics in the classroom as well as supporting students in a one-on-one or group format.
If your child is struggling at school with:
- Coping skills for anxiety, sadness, loneliness, anger or other difficult emotions
- Conflicts with staff or peers
Robin is here to help.
Students and/or parents can talk to their teachers about an appointment with Robin, or contact her directly using the information at the right to set up a time to connect.
Her office is located in the Fall Creek administrative building and she is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
