Quail Hollow Homeschool (2–5)
About Quail Hollow Homeschool - Quails and Creeks
Quail Hollow Homeschool offers parents and children an opportunity to participate in an individualized educational plan under the guidance of credentialed teachers, exploring their unique interests intertwined with meeting the Common Core expectations of our Charter. Also, students can participate in ongoing, multi-age, hands-on enrichment, teacher-led classes, and activities two days of the week. We know children need time to play and imagine. All of our class activities are geared toward collaborative experiences and social opportunities.
Our program has a visual and performing arts component, focusing on a musical production, as well as a science focus with student-driven presentations. There are monthly parent meetings and regular email correspondence. Field trips based around the sciences, a traditional beginning of the year camping trip, networking, and volunteer opportunities all contribute to a rich homeschool experience. MEET THE TEACHERS
KATIE PARMENTER (Quail Class)
I have been teaching since 1997 and teaching in our District's Charter School for the past 14 years with secondary and elementary students. I have my single subject - social science and multiple subject credentials. I am passionate about sharing my love of art and literature with children and watching them grow. I love spending time with my family, being outdoors, camping, working in the garden, and creating art.
I recently graduated from UCSC, earning a Masters in Education and multiple subject credentials. I taught Physical Education to all students at Tierra Pacifica Charter School in Live Oak and have spent many summers teaching team and individual sports in my hometown of Littleton, Colorado. I traveled to Iowa for my undergraduate degree in biology and environmental studies. Before getting into teaching, I worked for the EPA, testing Air Quality all over the U.S. My goal is to incorporate my love of the environment and team sports into my classroom to foster a caring, understanding, and collaborative educational community.
