College Admissions Requirements

Community College

Entrance Requirement: Age 18 OR high school diploma OR California Certificate of Proficiency
Three types of programs are offered:

Job preparation through occupational courses, which may lead to a degree and/or a Certificate of Achievement
Completion of Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degrees.
University transfer courses leading to a BA from a 4-year college. www.assist.org (for UC transferable classes)

Entrance requirements & expenses vary (check in the Career Center or on the Internet)
Test Required: SAT I or ACT and possibly SAT Subject Tests

Minimum grades of “C” or higher are required in a class to fulfill these requirements. Higher grades are strongly recommended.

15 hours each year

All proposed service projects should be pre-approved.
Please get a pre-approval signature to avoid denying CS hours after the fact.
Performing service hours without adult supervision or a supervisor’s signature is unacceptable.
Service must benefit the community at large or a portion of the community.
Service must be for a non-profit organization or charitable event.
Service must not place the student in an unsafe or dangerous environment.
Service must be on the student's own time, not taken from school academic time.
Service may not include fundraising that does not have a clearly defined goal for how the money will be used.
Service must be voluntary: i.e., no salary, no wages, no financial remuneration, no school credit, and not because of a criminal infraction.
