Marie Carrington is a teacher and mother who lives in the San Lorenzo
Valley. She received her credential from CSUMB and taught fifth grade for
several years. She took time off when her children were little and was an
active volunteer in the parent-run art program at their school. She then
went back to work part-time, as a second grade and math intervention
teacher. She is now very happy to be a teacher in the Quail HollowIntegrated Arts Program. Her core values as a teacher include project-based
learning, choice, creativity in demonstrating student understanding,
curiosity, and pursuing engagement and literacy through inquiry.
Her special training includes: Mindful Educator Certification, ongoing
participant in the Silicon Valley Math Initiative, Responsive Classroom
Course for Educators, Santa Cruz Summer Arts Institute, and leadership
institutes surrounding curiosity across the curriculum and reading and
writing strategies and structures.
In her free time, she loves to read, hike with her family, go to the river or
beach, swim and travel. Anytime she can relax or play with her family is
time well spent.
