Student Nutrition Services
Quality Nutrition for Quality Education
The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well-being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.
Meal Applications Free and Reduced Price Meals are available to families who believe they may qualify. The forms are available on our website. If your family chooses to apply please complete a "Free and Reduced Meal Price Application Form." The forms can be obtained and returned (completed) to any Student Nutrition Staff or to the school office. You will be notified by mail of your student's status. Please complete only one application per family. The information you give will be used to determine or prove your child's eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits.

Toolkit for a Healthy School Environment
The Toolkit for a Healthy School Environment has been developed to help
school sites implement the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District
Wellness Policy. This toolkit provides guidelines for improving the
foods and beverages offered and sold on SLVUSD school campuses in an
effort to combat the rising rates of obesity.
includes, but is not limited to, Board Policy 5030, legislation
regarding food and beverages that can be sold or served at schools, and
fundraising ideas. A parent newsletter has been drafted that schools may
use to inform the parents/guardians of the changes that will help
improve the health and well-being of our children.
