Smarter Balanced Test Scores

Attached is a letter from Debi Bodenheimer, our district's Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum regarding the CAASPP (Smarter Balanced) test results.

The new CAASPP Report is newsworthy, and I am sure that many of you have heard on the news or have read (or will read) various articles about the test results and what they mean for our students, schools, state, country, and general learning environment.

We, at the Charter, want you to know that our focus has not been to teach directly to the test. We teach to the Common Core Standards, and we teach to support your children's individual needs and ability levels.  We also keep our focus and professional learning on maintaining a well rounded curriculum, adding new teaching ideas, strategies and technology, while keeping brain-based and developmentally sound practices in mind. By doing this, we are confident that we can ensure that your child will continue to progress in the academic standards as well as the life skills we all know are important.

Please take the time to read Mrs. Bodenheimer's letter from the district.  It is a good reminder that this is a new rollout, beginning a new baseline of State data that adds a new piece to how we evaluate how well your student is doing.

As we get the test results and begin to take a deeper look at them, we will share more about what they mean and what we are doing to support your students learning.
