Graduation is only a concept. In real life every day you graduate. Graduation is a process that goes on until the last day of your life. If you can grasp that, you’ll make a difference.  ~Arie Pencovici

Dear Parents,

The last two weeks have been filled with five of our seven promotion celebrations, with two more next week.  It has been so rewarding to see the proud and happy students and families enjoying the close of the year together.  Each ceremony was so special to the program because of the dedication and commitment of the teachers that run the programs.  They truly put their hands and hearts into making their program celebration as best as it could be..personalized to each and every student.

I want to thank all of the parents who have contributed so much this year to the Charter programs that your child(ren) are enrolled in. I have spoken to so many of you, whether it was for personal reasons, in the classrooms or at a special event, for fundraising, or on one of the meetings held for WASC, or LCAP.   And I have heard from so many parents that this year has been one of their best years yet. What a great thing to hear!

I have learned a lot from the many conversations and discussions I have had, and will keep them in mind as the plans for next year are further developed.  It is through continual reflection and change from all sources that this Charter will remain strong, to evolve and flourish.   I want to strengthen the consistent level of parent communication next year by adding a Parent Advisory Committee that meets monthly.  Supporting seven programs, grades K-12, on different campuses is not an easy task, and it is important to have the consistent voice from parents representing every program and grade level.   If you are interested in participating on this committee, please email me and let me know.  I will be sending another reminder at the beginning of the school year.

With your ideas implemented in the Charter’s LCAP, some of the support we will add are additional VAPA opportunities, regular after school tutoring hours held at the Felton site and tutoring times at the Quail Hollow site, added hands-on opportunities as enrichment, and extended hours with our counselor.

We close this year with our first ever WASC accreditation, and next year we will begin with a unified plan that includes the further implementation of the LCAP that contains your input, a follow up visit from the WASC committee, and the Charter renewal process. It is good to have come to a place where all the programs in the Charter, while different in their programming, are unified under one plan.  I look forward to working with and for you next year.

~Rhonda

Online Student Registration for 2015-16 School Year

All students  must register on line over the summer before attending school next year. Continuing students should receive an infosnap generated email around June 5th, about on-line registration. New students should receive a kindergarten and new student registration information by June 24th.

Families that do not have an email account will have their Snap Code mailed to their homes. The email will come from gheagerty@slvusd.org.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the online student registration process, please contact our Student Information System Specialist, Gail Heagerty, at gheagerty@slvusd.org or by phone at 335-4425 ext. 117.
